Dear friends-clients,
After considering the advantages and disadvantages, we have decided to close our restaurant after 43 years open.
Honestly, it is with pain in our heart, but at our age (and if we are really really honest, with a little bit fatigue) we want to be able to enjoy our “old days” fully.
The restaurant opened its doors in 1947 and in 1964, my parents took it over from my father´s aunt. Nancy and I have worked here already for 17 years now. In 1982 we took the business over and gave it a new look. Restaurant Trio´s became an established business in Gent and with lots of love we have always tried to make it shine ever since.
Might one of our sons have taken the business over… that is something we have often wonder indoors. Every businessman has a dream as such… But times change and our two sons have managed to succeed in life in the own way together with their families. In all these years, they have helped us a lot and that’s why we want to give them a big thank you!
We were lucky we could keep on running this business for so long and therefore we are deeply grateful. Grateful to the people that worked for us during all this time (and those were quite a few).
People that worked here for a long time, people that worked here for a short time, but also students that from their 16-17 came here to work until they finished their studies and found a job.
But above all, we are grateful to all our clients who kept on coming to the restaurant (despite the Emile Braun parking was removed, despite the implementation of the new mobility plan, etc.) All along we have met a lot of people, people that we have carried in our hearts and that will remain there forever.
To our faithful clients, once more: THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
On December the 20th , Sunday afternoon, you will still find us during our last service in our “Triosken”, Nancy in the restaurant and me in the kitchen…
Afterwards we will close the doors of the restaurant permanently and our new life will begin, with our “Triosken” sticked in our heart eternally.

Trio's restaurant is one of the oldest restaurants in the Ghent ‘Donkersteeg’, which in relative terms is the ‘Rue des Bouchers’ of the city.

Trio's, the family restaurant open since 1947, is now in its third generation.


From the opening of the restaurant, mussels ‘Trio’s’ have been a featured favourite along with other specialties of Ghent including classics such as eel in green herb sauce, chicken waterzooi, fish waterzooi, Flemish beef stew with apple sauce, and rabbit with prunes.

Also, time honoured dishes such as cheese and shrimp croquettes, and various eel platters are the pride of the
house.

Het was er gezellig, familiaal en huiselijke sfeer. Het eten was perfect, meer dan voldoende en niets was te veel voor Nancy en Luc om alles aan onze wensen te voldoen. We zullen Trio\'s missen !!!! Bedankt voor alles.

We had a lovely meal at this quiet traditional restaurant. The service was great, the steak tender and perfectly cooked and the traditional rabbit in prunes was very tasty, with the option of a second round.

Nous confirmons le commentaire de Sébastien Billet sans compter sur la tarte pomme maison qui était excellente ainsi que leurs coquettes de crevettes maisons et les scampis a la crème. On y retournera.
